I generally only shoot in 35mm film (manual and point-and-shoot) as I enjoy the challenge of trying to capture a moment with only one attempt as it forces me to really think about the composition of the image and whether what I can see through the lens is worth one of my limited shots. I also really enjoy the anticipation of getting film developed and being surprised by the images which finally appear; sometimes I forget some of the images I’ve captured so I get to re-live the initial experience when I see the physical image. I also tend to use expired film to add another layer of mystery to the experience. Sometimes this leads to somewhat corrupted images but sometimes I’m left with beautifully unique images which would be hard to re-create deliberately. It’s all part of the fun.
